Consequences of a Secular and Godless Society:

Yesterday, December 14th 2012, 26 individuals lost their lives, in a senseless crime. Six adults, and twenty children, twenty kindergarten aged children were gunned down by a mentally ill twenty year old boy. Not only did this young man gun down twenty innocent young children, he also gunned down his mother. How does one make sense of such a tragedy? How does one begin to pick up the piece of this shattered glass and piece it back together?

I spent all of yesterday on an emotional roller coaster, attempting to do just that. My older sister and I talked about the incident and as she is raising her grandchildren, her initial thought; her initial knee jerk reaction was to go to the school and pick up her Kindergarten aged grand-babies, ages 5, 6 and 9!  She was shocked and in tears. My thoughts went to my kindergarten aged grand-babies as well, how could they not for any parent or grandparent?  Your first thought is to protect your babies. My heart breaks for the parents and grandparents who lost babies yesterday. I have lost a loved one, and it is devastating, but my mother lived a long and rich life, these babies did not. I cannot even begin to imagine the horror! My God bless them and bring them peace and comfort on the long journey of healing.

Signs of the Times:

Yesterday’s tragedy is a sign of the times we are now living in. There is a direct correlation between the rise of senseless crimes and moving more and more toward a secular society and a society devoid of God. There is also a direct correlation between the rate of crime, gun or otherwise and the level of gun control laws within a State. For example in Chicago, where they had a ban on guns, the crime rate is the highest in the world, that’s right, the crime rate in Chicago, where they have a ban on the citizens owning guns, has the highest crime rate in the world! Now this is not rocket science folks, that statistic shouts volumes, and proves that further gun control is NOT the answer to the problems we are facing in our society.

We live in a society where more and more God is being removed from our daily lives, and from our daily conversation.  When I was a young girl, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and then we said our morning prayers. Yes, that’s right; back in the ancient days, when I was in Kindergarten we still said prayers in school. Now I only enjoyed that privilege for a short period of time, before that right was snatched away.  School prayer was removed in 1962, and many studies have been done which show the negative impact this decision has made upon our society. Teenage pregnancy rates have increased 500% since 1962, Unmarried mothers have risen since 1962, and this behavior has been normalized within our society, because heaven forbid we hurt anyone’s sensibilities by confronting them, or allowing them to suffer the consequences of their choices, good, bad or indifferent! Violent crimes have risen and continue to rise steadily since the early 60’s and our prisons are bursting at the seams.

Our children have been dumb down, as statistics show that SAT scores have declined each year over the past 18 years. That is a shocking statistic and should be alarming to everyone as we were once known for having the best school system in the world and were ranked around 15th among the industrialized nations. Now we are ranked 25th, and this despite the enormous amount of money shoveled into an obviously failed education system.  A system geared toward the further secularization of our nation. A school system geared toward turning out insecure, neurotic, mentally ill individuals who are not capable of problem solving or critical thinking!  What is very interesting to note, is that children who attend Christian schools have much higher SAT scores than children who attend public schools, and the Christian schools spend much less per child than do the public schools!  We have moved from public schools that taught moral principles, good citizenship and high scholastic achievement to schools that have become a breeding ground for thugs!  Our public schools are rife with sex, drugs, anger, knives, guns, murder, no moral teachings, no respect for authority, and absolutely no mention of God!

Here is a very interesting correlation and statistic showing the difference in the 7 leading problems in our schools ranked in order from the first to the seventh. It is shown in two separate years, 1940 and 1990 notice the differences in the seriousness of the problems.  Now think about what happened yesterday in an elementary school and how that relates to our secular and Godless society.

1940                                                                                                       1990

1) Talking out of turn                                                                          1) Drug abuse

2) Chewing gum                                                                                   2) Alcohol abuse

3) Making noise                                                                                    3) Pregnancy

4) Running in the halls                                                                         4) Suicide

5) Cutting in line                                                                                    5) Rape

6) Dress-code violation                                                                        6) Robbery

7) Littering                                                                                             7) Assault

No the problem is not guns folks, we have had the right to bear arms in this country since its inception and when I was a young girl we did not have young people going into schools and gunning down innocent little children, we did not have the problems we are faced with today. We did not have these problems because we had God in our society; we had God in our daily lives, in our daily conversations, from our police officers, to our teachers, to our Congressmen and women, and our Senators, to our President. Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, like it or not, that is a simple fact and no matter how much you deny it, it does not change that simple fact.  We have taken God out of our society, and we are now witnessing the consequences for that decision, and things will not be getting better, they will only get worse, much, much worse, and that too is a simple fact.

  1. James Perry says:

Once again Andrea, you are spot on. What happened in Newtown, Ct. is a direct result of what happens when you try to replace God’s laws and scripture with liberal ideas and lies. It states in the Bible that we will reap what we sow, and yesterday is a prime example.

  2. An entire civilization in the Mid East aspires to do the same thing to our nation as was done in the Sand Hook School shooting . Why are our school administrators unarmed & untrained? Dr. John Lott of the University of Chicago has proven beyond all doubt that the armed citizen is the best deterant to mass shootings in these target rich environments. You can’t legislate , regulate or control against the forces of evil but you sure can defend yourself from evil. It’s your natural right.Even if you are a school teacher.

    EXCELLENT article Andrea! Shared!!!

  4. Brian Dodds says:

Yes, a very telling article Andrea, it tells a story of a once proud and great nation, one nation under God as it was, oh what a sad picture it paints today, very well written and presented as usual.

  5. patricia says:

well written: Liberals say controlling guns is the answer; controlling alcohol and drugs have not worked. Gun ownership was not a problem 30 years ago, the culture changed there are no longer any social or moral taboos, anything goes, that is what young people are taught in Govt. and the libertine culture created the problem and then promise that given more authority and power they are the ones to fix it! The Psalmists Word There Is No One Like the Lord Put more simple with God Out of The Picture everything is up for grabs.
